A lot of the information on John Marr appears to be speculative and unreliable. The oldest (so far as we know) story is that John Marr married in England (though possibly Wales) and had several children. His first wife died either in England or on the voyage to the United States (which were simply "the Colonies" at that time). After arriving in the U.S. John married a Catherine Fishback.

Some sources have tried to connect his Fishback wife with an Elizabeth Ann Fishback and make her the mother of his children, as there is a record of a John Marr marrying her. However, she was born in 1694 and his oldest daughter, Mary, was born in 1695. Obviously Elizabeth Fishback was not getting married and having children at the age of one. This hasn't stopped some people, largely on Ancestry.com, from manipulating the dates in an effort to try to make it work.

We are content with the families as presented, and have no problem changing our families to match the evidence.
