Antenor is listed as the king of Troy, but this is unlikely. Even though Troy was a nation (a small one) rather than a city, by this time the Trojans no longer existed in the capacity to need a king. He was also the Chief Prince of Ephraim. He is believed to have joined up with the Cimmerians, a nomadic tribe from southern Russia. There is a legend that Antenor founded the city of Pedova, though Pedova was actually founded in 1185 BC.

He was the high King of Troy during the ten year battle with the Mycenean Greeks in the Trojan War of Homer's Illiad. It should be noted that the city most think of as Troy was actually called Illiona (or Ilius). Troy was the nation of which Illiona was the capital.

Ilos is believed to be the founder of the capital city of Troy, Illiona. Archaologists spent a great deal of time searching for the city of Troy, and had about decided that it didn't really exist. They later descovered that the city was never named Troy, but Illiona, just as in Homer's Illiad. The city they found had been built, destroyed, and rebuilt several times over several hundred years by the Greeks, Romans, Persians, and Trojans. Much of the more realistic depictions of the battle as described in the Illiad have since been accepted as historically correct.
