John Yount Sr., b. 1749 in Pennsylvania, d. 1817 in Lincoln County, Tennessee

Father: George Yundt Sr., b. ABT 1728 in Germany
Mother: ? Hoover (or Huber)
John's actual date of birth is unknown. According to his grandson, John Yount of Linn County, Missouri, he was two years old when he arrived in America some time between 1745 and 1750. If John's father were Hans Georg Jundt, his year of birth would have been 1747.

After his marriage he settled on Lick Creek in present day Davidson County, North Carolina, which at the time was part of Rowan County He was recorded in the 1790 census as John Yont. In a 1795 land sale transaction his name was spelled John Yunt, but he signed as Johannes Jundt. After the sale of this land he moved to Wilkes County, North Carolina, listed next to his brother-in-law, Matthias Harmon on a 1795 tax list.

In March of 1807, John purchased 100 acres of land in Campbell County, Tennessee, from Richard Linville, his son-in-law. He remained in Campbell County until 1811 when he sold the land back to Richard Linville for the same amount he paid for it.

George Yundt Sr., b. ABT 1728 in Germany

Data of Lewis Vaughn suggests that George Yount Sr. of Randolph County, North Carolina may have been the Hans Georg Jundt who arrived at Philadelphia on the Phoenix Sept. 15, 1749. This needs to be researched more thoroughly in order to prove out.

From family sources and public records, it is known that four Yount brothers; George, John, Jacob, and Henry, were in Randolph County, North Carolina. George Yount Sr. is specifically named in several records in the North Carolina archives.
