Sikelgaita (also called Sigelgaita or Sichelgaita) often accompanied her husband on his campaigns. At the Battle of Dyrrhachium she was said to have been on the field in full armor, though probably not as a combatant. She rallied the troops as they were repulsed by the Byzantine army. Even though she had tried to disuade Robert from invading Byzantium, she nevertheless arrived with her own army to assist.
