Louis was also King of Italy and Holy Roman Emperor. There is a suggestion that Louis was also married to Anna, daughter of the Byzantine Emperor Leo VI The Wise and his second wife Zoe Zaoutzaina. He was blinded after a failed invasion of Italy in 905.

Historians consider it likely that Louis' wife Adelaide was not the mother of Charles-Constantine

William III Taillefer, Count of Toulouse, b. ABT 970, d. September 1037

Father: Raymond III, Count of Toulouse
Mother: Adelaide-Blanche of Anjou, b. ABT 940, m. Stephen, Count of Gévaudan, ABT 955, m. Louis V of France, annulled, m. William I of Provence, ABT 984, m. Otto-William, Count of Burgundy, bef. 1016, d. 1026 in Avignon
There is a lot of disagreement as to the ancestry of William III. That he is a descendant of Raymond III Pons is generally accepted, but he was not a son. Some sources say Raymond's son and heir was Raymond III, which disrupts the numbering of subsequent counts. Others use the will of Raymond Pons' wife, Garsinda Garcés, which does not mention William as a son or grandson. Some reconstructions have him as the son of William of Provence. Other list his parents as Raymond, Prince of Gothia and Adelais of Anjou. Raymond, Prince of Gothia has been identified with Raymond III, Count of Toulouse, and Adelais of Anjou with Adelaide-Blanche of Anjou, who married both Raymond III and William of Provence.

It appears to be considered proven that William's mother was Adelais of Anjou (Adelaide-Blanche of Anjou), making his father one of her husbands, of which she had five. Raymond III, Count of Toulouse, as we have it here, seems the most likely.
